We DO need another hero: The Dying of Whitney Houston

Dr. Foxmeat, staff

Today marks a sad day in both music and film history, as well as the world at large. I am sad to report that today, February 11th 2012, whitney houston has been found dead. She is probably best remembered for liking husband “Ike” Turner with whom she released several chart topping singles, as well as her hit solo songs “Private Dancer” and “What’s love got to do with it?”

Not content with merely topping the billboard charts, Whitney went on to star in such blockbuster hits as “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome” and the instant classic “Last Action Hero."

There's a little less soul in the world today

Don Cornelius, the creator and long-time host of iconic music television show Soul Train, died early Wednesday in his Los Angeles home.

Officials are saying the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, giving new meaning to the phrase "number one with a bullet."

But seriously, Cornelius was a revolutionary in the music TV genre.

It was so fun, let's do it again!

It was so fun in September and October, the City of Arcata wanted to do it all over again!

Farmer's Market? No.

Halloween on the Plaza? No.

Occupy the Plaza? Fuck no.

Digging up H Street and closing it down? Yes.

Wednesday, construction crews were back tearing up a nice chunk of all that new, clean street and sidewalk they shut off part a "major" "artery" of the city, like they did mere weeks before.

Reasons?
